Basketball Game Preview: Jackson Polar Bears vs. Ellet Orangemen

The Jackson Polar Bears will venture away from home to take on the Ellet Orangemen at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jackson will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Jackson strolled past Norton with points to spare, taking the game 58-42. Given the Polar Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Panthers are ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Ellet played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Strongsville 87-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Orangemen have suffered since February 27, 2024.

Jackson will have to contain Caitlyn Holmes as she made an impact in Ellet's last game. She posted 28 points. The contest was Holmes' fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Sanaiiya Gray was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Jackson's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5. As for Ellet, their loss dropped their record down to 18-3.

Everything came up roses for Jackson against Ellet when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-30 victory. In that game, Jackson amassed a halftime lead of 32-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
