Softball Recap: Weiser Comes Up Short

Weiser has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.82 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Payette Pirates. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ellie Shirts and Jordan Stromberg did some serious damage despite the final result: Shirts got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run, while Stromberg went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Bennett Torres also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Weiser's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Payette, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-11.

Weiser has already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Nampa Christian on the 29th. Hopefully Payette paid attention to the Wolverines' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
