Baseball Recap: South Extends Winning Streak to Five

South proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 15) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Goddard Lions. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

South's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Breeden, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

The victory (which was South's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Goddard, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: South beat the Lions by a score of 6-3 later that day.
