Baseball Recap: Hopkins Gets the Win

After only one run in their last game, Hopkins made sure to put some runs up on the board against Allendale on Saturday. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Falcons 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since May 22, 2025.

Hopkins got a big performance out of Kellen Ford, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Ford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Woollam, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs.

Hopkins is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Allendale, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-11 record.

Coming up, Hopkins will take on Calvin Christian at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.8, the Squires 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Allendale, they will face off against Coopersville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Falcons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
