Baseball Game Preview: San Domenico Panthers vs. Marin Academy Wildcats

For the second straight game, San Domenico will face off against Marin Academy. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

San Domenico headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for four straight, but Marin Academy let them put that streak behind them. The Panthers blew past the Wildcats 14-2 on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Panthers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Oliver Bennett made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Bennett was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Oliver Swain, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Falconer, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

San Domenico always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marin Academy only posted an OBP of .429.

San Domenico's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Marin Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. San Domenico has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Marin Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
