Volleyball Recap: American Canyon Wolves vs. Analy Tigers
American Canyon lost against Analy on April 3rd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wolves took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. While the Wolves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 25-19 in the first set.
American Canyon started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-17.
Hector Valencia paced American Canyon's offense, picking up nine kills. Valencia got some help from Joshua Hmun and his 13 assists. Finally, Cylar Echevarria kept American Canyon's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.
Analy can attribute much of their success to Jose Zapien Gomez, who had ten digs and two aces. That's the most aces Zapien Gomez has posted over his last six matches.
American Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Analy, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 22-5.
American Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Analy, they will take on Ukiah at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Tigers' favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while the Wildcats have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
