Recap: Mullen Mustangs vs. Eaglecrest Raptors
The Mullen Mustangs won the last time they faced the Eaglecrest Raptors, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Mullen strolled past Eaglecrest with points to spare, taking the game 39-20. Given Mullen's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Eaglecrest is ranked 52nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mullen found their leader in underclassman Makenzie Jones, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Allison Schwertner was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Several Raptors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Glorielle Mukeba, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Mullen has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Eaglecrest, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.
Mullen will be playing at home against Eaglecrest at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Eaglecrest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
