Soccer Game Preview: May River vs. Summerville

The May River Sharks will head out to take on the Summerville Green Wave at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (May River has eight straight victories, Summerville has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

May River's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Beaufort by a score of 2-0. Given May River's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Beaufort are ranked 116th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Timothy O'Gorman and Erik Robertello, Jr scored both of May River's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 18 goals.

Meanwhile, Summerville fell victim to Ashley Ridge and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 4-0 to the Swamp Foxes. That's two games in a row now that Summerville have lost by exactly four goals.

May River pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Summerville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10-1.
