Volleyball Recap: Desert Oasis Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Arbor View

Desert Oasis faced Arbor View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aggies. The defeat continues a trend for the Diamondbacks in their meetings with the Aggies: they've now lost seven in a row.

Desert Oasis started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23.

Ellis Mcgrath paced Desert Oasis' offense, picking up 14 kills. Mcgrath got some help from Carter Aldridge and his 42 assists. Arthur Suarez controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Arbor View found their leader in freshman Marc Jordan Morre, who had 23 digs and six aces. Those six aces set a new season-high mark for Morre.

Desert Oasis' loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Arbor View, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season.

Meanwhile, Arbor View is set to square off against their familiar foe Coronado at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Aggies are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Cougars a four-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
