Baseball Recap: Barnstable Red Hawks vs. Boston College High Eagles
Barnstable had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-6-1 to make it eight. They lost 6-0 to the Boston College High Eagles. If the Red Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Boston College High, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
For Boston College High's part, Eddie Kates looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kates has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Wyatt Miller was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy O'Donnell, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Barnstable and Boston College High could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Red Hawks (ranked 139th) will meet Duxbury (ranked 40th) at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Boston College High will face off against Taunton at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (44 vs. 1).
