Clifton and McGregor are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. Clifton will challenge McGregor at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Clifton's offense. They lost 7-0 to Troy on Friday. The Cubs have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, McGregor had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Trojans. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly three runs.

The team relied heavily on Layla Goff, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Addyson Todd was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

McGregor's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Clifton, they now have a losing record of 5-6-1.

Clifton came out on top in a nail-biter against McGregor when the teams last played back in March of 2022, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clifton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
