Football Recap: Orange Cove Takes a Loss

Orange Cove extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They were dealt a 58-7 defeat at the hands of the Woodlake Tigers. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-0.

As for Woodlake, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.7 points on average this season.

Woodlake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aldo Rodriguez, who threw for 272 yards and four TDs. The Tigers' leading receiver Memo Rosales was Rodriguez's top target yet again, picking up 80 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also punching in one rushing score.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Orange Cove will face off against rival Corcoran at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Woodlake is set to challenge their familiar foe Strathmore at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Rodriguez and Isaiah Colunga.
