Baseball Game Preview: Ironwood Eagles vs. Sunrise Mountain Mustangs

Ironwood is 0-10 against Sunrise Mountain since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will welcome the Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Ironwood put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They never let North get on the board and left with a 20-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Sebastian Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Rodriguez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Ironwood got a massive performance out of Lane Stilwell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Stilwell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua McCormick, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-2.

Ironwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North struck out nine times.

Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against the Huskies.

The team relied heavily on Dominick Santalucia, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Riley Murphy, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Ironwood's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Sunrise Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 14-9.
