Softball Recap: Kermit Has No Trouble Against Tornillo

While Kermit put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Tornillo. The Kermit Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Tornillo Coyotes with a sharp 14-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Aliha Saenz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Ashten Bonilla was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Urquidi, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Kermit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

Kermit's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Tornillo, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Kermit and Tornillo will both be playing Anthony the next time they take the field. Tornillo will head out to face Anthony at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Kermit will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
