Baseball Game Preview: Haskell Haymakers vs. Mounds Golden Eagles

The Haskell Haymakers will face off against the Mounds Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Haskell has six straight wins, Mounds has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Haskell got the win against Chouteau-Mazie by a conclusive 9-2. Considering the Haymakers have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Nevin Sheedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Haskell got a big performance out of Brody Grider, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those three hits gave Grider a new career-high. Elias Gonzales was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Mounds' offense. They lost 12-0 to Glencoe on Thursday.

Mounds saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Cotner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Cotner is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Mounds' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Haskell, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything went Haskell's way against Mounds when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Haskell made off with an 11-0 win. Do the Haymakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
