Recap: Liberty Minutemen vs. Heritage Pioneers

The Liberty Minutemen won the last time they faced the Heritage Pioneers, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Liberty walked away with a 58-45 win over Heritage. Given Liberty's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Heritage is ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Liberty was led to victory by Brianna Adams and Shania Brown. Adams scored 19 points along with seven assists and two steals, while Brown dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Brown is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Harrison, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Heritage's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tailor Coles, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Allen, who scored 14 points.

The victory makes it two in a row for Liberty and bumps their season record up to 14-5. As for Heritage, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Liberty will be playing at home against Rustburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rustburg is coming into the contest with four straight wins on the road, meaning Liberty will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Heritage, they will square off against Glass at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
