Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial had already won 15 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it 16 on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Miller Buccaneers. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Julian Colsa made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Davian Garcia and MJ Vela did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Vela went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Vela has posted since back in March. Aaron Gonzalez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial pushed their record up to 24-2-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Miller, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-21.
