Baseball Recap: Smith-Cotton Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Willard, Smith-Cotton was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Jackson Fighting Indians. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Kendall Hagedorn was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three doubles. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Homan, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Smith-Cotton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory snapped Smith-Cotton's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-9 record. As for Jackson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smith-Cotton will welcome Jefferson City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jackson, they will challenge Marion at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
