Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kaylee Bellard and Kynnedy Newton

After flying high against Varsity Opponent two weeks ago, Cornerstone Christian Academy came back down to earth. Cornerstone Christian Academy fell 38-31 to Louisiana Math Science & Arts on Thursday. While Cornerstone Christian Academy didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Louisiana Math Science & Arts 12-4 in the first quarter.

Kynnedy Newton and Kaylee Bellard certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Newton shot 71% from the field en route to 10 points and eight boards, while Bellard posted six points. Newton has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Claire Newton also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Cornerstone Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. With the win, Louisiana Math Science & Arts broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-5.
