Basketball Recap: North Star Academy Comes Up Short

North Star Academy lost a heartbreaker to Irvington when they met back in December of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. North Star Academy received a blow as they fell 59-42 to the Irvington Blue Knights. The loss continues a trend for North Star Academy in their matchups with Irvington: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, North Star Academy still got an impressive performance from Johnny Mayers Ii, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds. Mayers Ii's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tajee Carter, who earned 11 points and six blocks.

North Star Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Irvington, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

North Star Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 69-57 loss against Newark Tech on the 18th. Irvington has also already played their next contest (against Newark Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
