Basketball Recap: Joppatowne Comes Up Short

Joppatowne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 61-47 to the Fallston Cougars. The Mariners were down 56-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Joppatowne lost, don't look at Dartanun Blakney. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points and eight rebounds. Kamari Matthews was another key player, putting up eight points and seven steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fallston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shaughn Kelly, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. What's more, Kelly posted three blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Griffin Jr., who earned 12 points.

Joppatowne's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Fallston, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Joppatowne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-43 victory against North Harford on the 17th. As for Fallston, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-49 defeat against Patterson Mill on the 19th.
