Liberty Common took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past Heritage Christian 73-42. Liberty Common has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Heritage Christian, too.
Leading Liberty Common to victory were Solen Castillo and David Hutchins. Castillo shot 86% from the field to rack up 13 points and five boards, while Hutchins dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Castillo a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (50%). Dylan Novick was another key player, going 6-for-13 on his way to 13 points.
Liberty Common was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage Christian only racked up nine.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alec Lundy, who posted 18 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Guede Wade, who put up 14 points and seven boards.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty Common will host Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Heritage Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Forge Christian at 5:30 p.m.
