Baseball Recap: Washington County Wins Going Away Against Citronelle

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Leroy, Washington County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Citronelle Wildcats 12-2. The match marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season so far.

Landon Dearmon made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Ty Owens was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Myles Thornton was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Washington County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Washington County's record is now 4-1. As for Citronelle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Washington County is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against Ariton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Citronelle, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats challenge the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
