Baseball Game Preview: Troy Trojans vs. Kendrick Tigers

Troy and Kendrick are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Trojans will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Troy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Troy got the win against Genesee by a conclusive 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Cooper Trout and Dominic Holden made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Trout pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Holden struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Trout has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Trout went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Holden went a perfect 3-for-3 with six stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Trout has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Javan Barton was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Archer Barton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Kendrick was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They lost 8-1 to Clearwater Valley. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Kendrick saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Boyer, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Troy's record is now 12-7. As for Kendrick, their loss dropped their record down to 16-3.

Troy couldn't quite finish off Kendrick in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 5-3. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
