Basketball Game Preview: Jonesville Comets vs. Onsted Wildcats

The Jonesville Comets will face off against the Onsted Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Jonesville turned things around against Hudson on Wednesday. They blew past the Tigers, posting a 65-37 win. The Comets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Onsted came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 38-29 victory over the Trojans. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Trojans are ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jonesville now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Onsted, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Jonesville came up short against Onsted in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 47-39. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Onsted's Karlie Kimerer, who went 6-for-9 en route to 25 points.
