Basketball Recap: Morning Star Academy Mustangs vs. Tri-State Christian Huskies

Morning Star Academy was the 63-58 winner over Tri-State Christian when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs took a 38-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Morning Star Academy still got an impressive performance from David Martin, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. Martin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Ian Bosch was another key player, putting up five points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Leading Tri-State Christian to victory were Owen Reibling and Nehemiah Smith. Reibling almost dropped a double-double with nine boards and 11 assists, while Smith went 7-for-12 to rack up 15 points and three steals. Those 11 assists gave Reibling a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Eells, who posted nine points.

Morning Star Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Tri-State Christian, their record is now 2-0.

Coincidentally, Morning Star Academy and Tri-State Christian will both be playing East Moline Christian the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will host the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Huskies will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
