            Baseball Recap: Youngker Roughriders vs. Verrado Vipers        
        
		
        
        
            Youngker came into this matchup off a tough eight-run  defeat last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Verrado Vipers by a score of  5-3 on Monday. The Roughriders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vipers apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in March of 2024.

 Derrick Linley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent  recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances.

Youngker is  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 4-4. As for Verrado, their victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 4-3-1.
While Youngker had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
