Basketball Game Preview: Fallsburg Comets vs. Eldred Yellowjackets

The Fallsburg Comets will face off against the Eldred Yellowjackets at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fallsburg is looking for their season's first victory.

Last Tuesday, Fallsburg ended up a good deal behind Port Jervis and lost 37-23.

Meanwhile, Eldred was able to grind out a solid win over Livingston Manor on Tuesday, taking the game 49-39. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Eldred's win came from a few key players Fallsburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Olivia Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. She also posted five blocks, which is notable because Eldred is 2-1 when she posts at least three blocks, but 3-6 otherwise. Sydney Furler was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.

Eldred was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Eldred's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Fallsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Fallsburg took a serious blow against Eldred when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 64-15. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Furler, who dropped a double-double with 34 points and ten steals.
