Preview: Archbishop Hoban Knights vs. Riverside Beavers
The Archbishop Hoban Knights will play host again and welcome the Riverside Beavers, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
With a playoff game on the line, Archbishop Hoban rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past Barberton, posting a 41-7 win at home. Considering Archbishop Hoban has won eight matches by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Riverside earned a 42-30 win over Twinsburg on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Riverside.
Mikey Maloney was a one-man wrecking crew for Riverside as he rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Mackey, who gained 123 total yards and three touchdowns.
Riverside's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Dom Kirks was especially locked on to Twinsburg's QB and sacked him three times.
Archbishop Hoban's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Riverside, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
