Baseball Recap: Smithfield Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Smithfield can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Bruton Panthers by a score of 9-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-0 back in March.

Smithfield got a big performance out of Chase Darden, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was Darden's first of the season. Alex Santana was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Smithfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Smithfield picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-8. As for Bruton, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12.
