Preview: Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers vs. St. Charles East Fighting Saints

The Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the St. Charles East Fighting Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Wheaton-Warrenville South lost to Batavia at home by a decisive 28-14 margin. While losing is never fun, Wheaton-Warrenville South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Batavia is ranked 11th).

Although Wheaton-Warrenville South took the loss, they still got scores from Matthew Crider and Joe Preede.

Meanwhile, St. Charles East's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 42-20 defeat at the hands of Geneva. St. Charles East was down 35-12 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

St. Charles East's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mac Paul, who threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns, and Sheko Gjokaj who picked up 169 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Wheaton-Warrenville South's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for St. Charles East, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Wheaton-Warrenville South against St. Charles East in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as the squad secured a 27-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wheaton-Warrenville South since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
