Basketball Recap: American Leadership Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

American Leadership Academy needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Saydee Carter. The American Leadership Academy Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 25-23 victory over the Rowland Hall Winged Lions on Thursday thanks in part to Carter, who posted four points along with eight boards and four steals. She has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Hernandez, who scored two points in addition to nine boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Rowland Hall saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mina Bailey earned eight points.

American Leadership Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-6. As for Rowland Hall, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. American Leadership Academy will welcome Draper APA at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. American Leadership Academy hasn't scored more than 25 points for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse. Rowland Hall has already played their next game (against American Heritage), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
