Softball Recap: Wilmington Extends Winning Streak to Four

Wilmington came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Reynolds Raiders as they made off with a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Karah Deal, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Avery Harlan, who scored four runs while going 2-for-3.

Wilmington pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Reynolds, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Wilmington will square off against rival Mercer at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Greyhounds 3.4, the Mustangs 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Reynolds is set to challenge their familiar foe Sharpsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
