Soccer Game Preview: Manistee vs. Shelby

The Manistee Chippewas will head out to face off against the Shelby Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Manistee came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 6-1 to Fremont. While losing is never fun, Manistee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Fremont are ranked 17th).

Meanwhile, Shelby has been struggling as of late, and they have yet to win a game this season. They fell 2-0 to Ravenna on Monday. That's two games in a row now that Shelby have lost by exactly two goals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Manistee fell to 5-1. As for Shelby, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5-2.

Manistee came up short against Shelby in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Chippewas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
