The Lanesville Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Borden Braves at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lanesville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Lanesville came out on top against Christian Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Warriors. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Jaxson Payne, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Dayton Campbell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
Lanesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.
Meanwhile, Borden waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Garrett Schmidt made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Wyatt Martel looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Schmidt wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Michael McVoy, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Borden pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lanesville, their record now sits at 7-9.
Lanesville might still be hurting after the 19-2 defeat they got from Borden in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
