Basketball Game Preview: Millbrook Wildcats vs. Heritage Huskies

Millbrook is 10-0 against Heritage since November of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Millbrook Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Heritage Huskies at 5:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Millbrook is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Rocky Mount just ended the team's four-game winning streak two weeks ago. The game between them and the Gryphons didn't end well, with Millbrook falling 48-29. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Millbrook had strong showings from Grace Bardeen, who posted 12 points, and Lucy Ellis, who put up six points. Ellis is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Heritage fought the good fight in their overtime game against Chapel Hill on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 36-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Tigers are ranked 40th).

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Millbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Millbrook beat Heritage 48-41 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Does Millbrook have another victory up their sleeve, or will Heritage turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
