Basketball Game Preview: Rockbridge County Wildcats vs. William Monroe Dragons

The Rockbridge County Wildcats will face off against the William Monroe Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Tuesday, Rockbridge County was beaten by Turner Ashby 77-29. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost nine in a row.

Abby Bouchard was Rockbridge County's leading scorer, having posted two points. Bouchard also led the team in rebounds with five.

Meanwhile, William Monroe lost to Harrisonburg at home by a 53-36 margin on Tuesday. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

William Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Rockbridge County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Things could have been worse for Rockbridge County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 41-27 loss to William Monroe in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Rockbridge County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
