Basketball Game Preview: Aquinas Monarchs vs. Pierce Bluejays

The Aquinas Monarchs are taking a road trip to take on the Pierce Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pierce took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Aquinas, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Aquinas really took it to Clarkson/Leigh for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-30 win. With the Monarchs ahead 37-14 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Pierce was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 51-46 to Boone Central.

Pierce dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Aquinas, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Aquinas didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Pierce in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-51 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aquinas since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
