Lytle and Orange Grove squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Lytle had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Toby Davila was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

Lytle's loss dropped their record down to 22-12. As for Orange Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10-1 record this season.

While Lytle had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Friday.
