Softball Recap: Paulding County Patriots vs. Sprayberry Yellow Jackets
Paulding County extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 2-4. They fell 7-4 to the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets. The Patriots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Yellow Jackets from their previous meeting back in August of 2019.
Paulding County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Puckett, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Puckett's first of the season. Another was Abbey Parish, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
As for Sprayberry, the victory got them back to even at 2-2. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
On Sprayberry's side, Graci Pederson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Pederson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Jordan Simpson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Shona Bowen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Coming up, Paulding County will be playing at home against North Cobb Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sprayberry, they will venture away from home to challenge Campbell at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
