Basketball Recap: Oakley Skates Past Ellis with Ease

Oakley won the last time they faced Ellis and things went their way on Friday too. The Oakley Plainsmen really took it to the Ellis Railroaders for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-34 win. The Plainsmen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Oakley found their leader in freshman Alexa Weiser, who almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weiser has scored all season. Jade Beckman was another key player, going 5-for-11 on her way to 10 points and six steals.

Oakley was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Oakley's record now sits at 13-5. As for Ellis, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Looking ahead, Oakley is taking a road trip to face off against Thomas More Prep-Marian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Ellis, they will welcome Hoxie at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hoxie will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Ellis surely won't give up without a fight.
