Baseball Recap: Silverado Takes a Loss

Silverado managed to slip by Granite Hills the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks lost 9-3 to the Cougars on Friday. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Jace Weiss put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. Weiss was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Weiss wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Steven Gomez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The defeat snapped Silverado's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-7 record. As for Granite Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Silverado is taking a road trip to square off against Glendora at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Granite Hills, they will welcome Adelanto at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
