Basketball Recap: Blackville-Hilda Takes a Loss

Blackville-Hilda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 75-62 to the Wagener-Salley War Eagles. The Fighting Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the War Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Loss or not, Blackville-Hilda got some senior leadership from Jaden Berry and Samari Williams. Berry went 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points and three steals, while Williams posted 11 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Those 14 points gave Berry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keshan Sincino, who put up ten points.

Blackville-Hilda's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Wagener-Salley, with the win, they broke their 24-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-4.

Blackville-Hilda is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Barnwell at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Wagener-Salley will take on Hunter-Kinard-Tyler in a holiday battle at at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
