The Christ School Greenies will challenge the Charlotte Catholic Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Christ School's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Asheville Christian Academy with a sharp 20-0 win. With that victory, the Greenies brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Garin Gosnell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Christ School is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9-1 otherwise. Gosnell was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Corbin Spillards was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Christ School's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-9-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Will Ray, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Christ School lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Catholic had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Eagles. 13 seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Ben Bordeaux and Henry Earl dominated on the mound. Bordeaux tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Earl pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bordeaux has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Matt McKnight was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Tripp Warnement, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Charlotte Catholic pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Christ School, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10-1.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Christ School has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Charlotte Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Christ School came up short against Charlotte Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 4-1. Will the Greenies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
