Basketball Recap: Crofton Comes Up Short

Crofton played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Norfolk Catholic Knights, falling 79-33. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Crofton lost, don't look at Trevor Allen. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points. The game was Allen's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jace Panning, who had eight points.

Max Hammond was nothing short of spectacular for Norfolk Catholic: he went 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Hammond a new career-high in points. Alex Rios also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Crofton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Norfolk Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Crofton will venture away from home to square off against Wayne at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayne is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season. As for Norfolk Catholic, they will host Pierce at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Norfolk Catholic also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 60.9 points per game.
