Mt. Spokane is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Gonzaga Prep is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wildcats will host the Bullpups at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Mt. Spokane beats Gonzaga Prep with 13 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Wildcats beat Ferris on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3.
Meanwhile, Gonzaga Prep made easy work of Mead on Friday and carried off an 11-1 win.
Dylan Croall spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Grant Yost and Briggs Beaudoin did most of the damage at the plate: Yost went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Beaudoin went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Beaudoin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaden Sarto, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Gonzaga Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mead only posted a batting average of .182.
Gonzaga Prep has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Mt. Spokane, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
Mt. Spokane came out on top in a nail-biter against Gonzaga Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Bullpups have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
