Baseball Recap: Jeannette's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Jeannette's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Carmichaels Mighty Mikes a 2-0 shutout. The win was some much needed relief for the Jayhawks as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Wyatt Schaeffer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Jeannette is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-6 otherwise. Schaeffer was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Rattigan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Jeannette's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Carmichaels, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4-1.

Looking ahead, Jeannette will look to defend their home field on Monday against Greensburg Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. As for Carmichaels, they will venture away from home to square off against McGuffey at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
