Softball Game Preview: Booneville Blue Devils vs. Itawamba Agricultural Indians

The Booneville Blue Devils will be taking part in a tournament against the Itawamba Agricultural Indians at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Booneville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

While Booneville's win against Ripley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Tigers last Friday.

Meanwhile, Itawamba Agricultural had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Tigers.

Booneville pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Itawamba Agricultural, their victory bumped their record up to 21-3.

Booneville couldn't quite finish off Itawamba Agricultural in their previous matchup back in February and fell 3-1. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
