Softball Game Preview: Nardin Academy Gators vs. Williamsville East Flames

The Nardin Academy Gators will head out to square off against the Williamsville East Flames at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nardin Academy has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mount St. Mary Academy hit Nardin Academy with a eight-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Gators fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 11-10. On the bright side, the ten- run performance marked the Gators' highest-scoring contest to date.

Madison Scarpace made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Talia Taylor was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Williamsville East unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 8-4 to North Tonawanda.

Williamsville East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Libby Kosmowski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That run marked the first that Kosmowski has scored this season. Another was Lucy White, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Nardin Academy's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Williamsville East, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 4-2.

Nardin Academy beat Williamsville East 5-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
