There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Part of the action? A towering 101-point combined score for Millwood and Lexington.
Can't Touch This
Blanchard's 55 - 6 win over Madill last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Bryce Madron. Madron earned six touchdowns and 210 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Madron among the top power-ranked players for the week.
Movin on Up
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Kingfisher last week (their 5th in a row). It had all the answers against Perkins-Tryon, winning 45 - 21. One major factor in the victory was the play of senior Jett Sternberger, who tossed the ball for 329 yards and five TDs. Kingfisher's success was rewarded with a 11-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
No Stoppin 'Em
101. That was the combined point total for Lexington and Millwood when they went head to head last week, and it set the benchmark for all power ranking teams. Millwood picked up a decisive 'W' against Lexington, finishing up at 80 - 21. Nevertheless, Millwood did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped three spots in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Midwest City (7th in the power rankings) and Del City (4th). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Don't be surprised if the score for this one pushes triple digits as Del City and Midwest City both racked up points last week.
